BTP Presents Hiphop 50th Anniversary
August 14, 2023 the California Legislative Black Caucus, the Recording Industry Association of Ameica @riaa_awards the Bring the Peace Movement, and a host of other came together to celebrate 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop Culture at the California State Capitol. I was honored to present certificates of recognition.
Free Black Mamas
Every Mother's Day since 2017, @essiedjustice has been on the frontlines of bailouts in partnership with National Bail Out to free Black Maras in California and welcome them into a loving and powerful community. This year is no different. We always come for ours With a median ball amount of $50,000, California ball amounts are five times that of the national average, It takes an incredible amount of resourcing and care to have this outcome in a state with notoriously egregious systems that break our families apart. On Friday, May 7, 2021, Essie Justice Group members directly intervened in America s legacy of child separation, the disruption of Black motherhood, and the caging and control of Black bodies with our biggest Black Mama's Ball Out to date With the help of the National Bail Out collective, community partners and elected officials, we spent $808,000 to secure the freedom of three Black mamas in two counties in California!

Annual Peace Award
Monday August 14, 2023 the Bring The Peace Moverent, The California Legislative Black Caucus, the Recording Industry Association of America and a host of partners celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop at the California State Capitol with a resolution presentation and certificates of recognition. Ive organized a lot of events over the course of my life, but this one takes the cake as my grandmother would say, it is such a humbled honor to work with so many amazing people to recognize the contributions of so many to the West Coast Hip Hop Culture

I had the honor of spending this past weekend with some of the most amazing people, any of whom i hold dear to my heart, and i am blessed to call family, friends, and colleagues. I'd like to give a special shout out to the weekends host Michael Latt @michaellatt and Molly Watson @mollz427 for continuing to lead with love in all you do!

Amazing day spent with family at the capitol introducing my niece and nephews.MRB - Magical Rock Band @magicalrockband to legislators and my amazingly creative friend Jesse Delgado @iamjessedelgade Special shout out to my beautiful sista and warrior for the people, Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price @pamelapricecares Senator Anthony Portantino @portanting thank you for always taking the time to talk with me and spending some time engaging with the youth. Your words of encouragement mean a lot.

Special shout out to my Oakland born and raised brother Russell Hornsby @russoulhornsby for an amazing night of conversations and celebration. Thank you for your genulne kindness, embracement, and support for my cousin Ricky. We're calling it "The Love You Give" Ricky Godfrey @rickygodfrey44 is an INNOCENT MAN who had 31 years of his life stolen at the age of 18 years old. The state of California put him on trial and attempted to give him the death penalty, FOR A CRIME HE DID NOT COMMIT, under California's felony murder law. instead, they sentenced him to death by incarceration, also known as LWOP, Life Without the Possibility of Parole. On, but God! God will have the final say! Ricky was released on April 21, 2023, and the journey to full exoneration is in full bloom. If yall know how my cousin Anesia Patrice Godfrey and 1 move then you know silence is our best practice until it's time for the reveal. Just know this.....you aint seen nothing yet! It's cill gas, no brakes!
